Laying a Foundation for Care

Sunnyside Community Services provides community-based services ranging from adult day care center to educational youth programs to residents of Western Queens. Sunnyside came to Cause Effective seeking to raise funds to increase their programming and pay for much-needed capital improvements. Together, we identified opportunities and challenges. We then worked with Sunnyside to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan with the ultimate goal of diversifying and strengthening its private funding base. We consulted with Sunnyside to develop the board, expand the fundraising staff, set goals for a private donor campaign, and implement a wide range of strategies. Sunnyside not only exceeded its goals, increasing contributions from individual and corporate donors by 110%, but it also reinvigorated its board, increased its visibility to funders and politicians, and created a development department. All of these opened doors to previously untapped markets.
