Erica Buchanan, New York City Director - North Bronx, All our Kin NYC
Erica’s passion for education started at an early age. Working with young children gave her joy! Throughout her years of being an educator, she sought to define what it meant to have children’s well-being at the center of her work. Within the process of preparing for her career, it was important for her to remember the purpose and definitions of her role as a future educator. Previous to working for All Our Kin, Erica worked for Bank Street College of Education as an Instructional Coach under the Making Pre-K Count Initiative in NYC. She then moved into a Supervisory Role for High 5’s K-Math research project. In the completion of these projects, Erica became one of the Lead Coach Supervisors for the PreK Explore Track in NYC for the next three years. Over her 22 years of working in education, Erica has taught grades from Birth to Three, then Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade. She has mentored, coached, and supervised countless teachers over the course of these years as well. Erica is working on continuing and completing her Doctorate in Administration, Supervision, and Policy (Pre-K to 12th grade) (paused due to the pandemic but has completed 2 years).
