Ericker Onaga, Chief Program Officer, Community Health Action of Staten Island

Ericker Phillips-Onaga is the Chief Program Officer at Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI), a division of Sun River Health Care.  In this role, Ms. Onaga oversees their complete portfolio of outreach, education, prevention and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – the poor and working poor, low income people with chronic illnesses, persons with criminal justice involvement, substance users, domestic violence survivors, people of color and the LGBTQ community. Before joining Community Health Action, Ms. Onaga served at Comunilife, Inc. as the VP for Programs, where she focused on developing quality assurance and incident management systems for their 2100 housing units throughout the other four boroughs of New York City. Prior to Comunilife, Ms. Onaga worked at Project Hospitality for over 25 years serving in various direct service and administrator roles, including Chief Program Officer from 2009-2019. Ms. Onaga was responsible for administering over a dozen HIV programs, implementing the Health Homes program model, and expanding the agency’s portfolio of licensed behavioral health programs.  Ms. Onaga has a wealth of experience on issues faced by low-income individuals with HIV/AIDS, behavioral health disorders, housing instability, and food insecurity.

Ms. Onaga was appointed to the Mayor’s HASA Advisory Board in 2016. She also serves as a Trustee of Seamen's Society for Families and Children, as Chair of the Program and Compliance committee there since 2016 and has been Vice Chair of the Board since 2018. A lifelong Staten Islander, Ms. Onaga is a proud parent and grandparent who enjoys gardening. She holds a master’s degree in social work from New York University and is a NY state licensed clinical social worker.
