Gregory Cohen joined Cause Effective as a Senior Associate in 2006, and became Associate Director in 2016. He has provided coaching and training to the board and staff of hundreds of clients, primarily in the areas of fundraising planning, individual donor development and governance. He specializes in converting resistant boards into becoming competent and effective fundraisers.
For over 30 years, Greg has worked with a range of nonprofits including establishing six start-ups in areas as diverse as youth development, energy efficiency, global health and low income cooperative housing. Greg founded and ran Comprehensive Development, Inc. at Manhattan Comprehensive Night & Day High School, for 11 years, where his fundraising strategies brought the organization’s private fundraising up to $1 million annually. He also ran the housing development program at the New York Urban Coalition. Greg holds a BA from Union College and is a certified trainer in nonprofit ethics with the Institute for Global Ethics. He has been an instructor on "Fundraising For New Nonprofit Ventures" at NYU's Wagner School, and is a Vice Chair of the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of NY and a member of Coro’s Leadership NY II.
