Avarisse Crawford, Chief of Staff, East Harlem Tutorial Program
Avarisse (Avi) Crawford believes that through equity-centered schools and systems, our students can work toward becoming whoever they want to be. As Chief of Staff, Avi serves as a key partner to EHTP’s CEO, strengthening the organization’s presence externally and supporting a strong culture internally. Avi’s relationship with EHTP began as a volunteer College Mentor through its CMP (College Mentoring Program). From there, she fell in love with the students and staff and joined the team. Prior to joining EHTP, Avi worked in business development at Sullivan and Cromwell, crisis communications at Ruder Finn, and event planning and communications at The Penn Club of New York. Throughout that time, Avi served as a math, college advisory, and SAT and ACT teacher with SEO Scholars and The Princeton Review.
As a Questbridge Scholar, Avi received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in Marketing and Communications. In 2022, she completed a certificate in Social Impact Management and Leadership through the Institute for Nonprofit Practice.
Avi currently resides in East Harlem, where she enjoys the sites, smells, and sounds that remind her of her home of North Philadelphia. Avi looks forward to leveraging her jack-of-all-trades skills to support EHTP and the students who look just like her.
