Cause Effective has been at the forefront of the capacity-building ecosystem for over forty years, partnering with over 7,000 social justice and human rights organizations to support their fundraising, communications, board governance, strategic planning, and leadership development. We don’t just teach nonprofit management strategy, we live it every day.

    Overview of the Fundraising and Communications Consultant Role
    Cause Effective Consultants are project-based consultants who deliver coaching, workshops, and training to nonprofit organizations. We are currently seeking Consultants who can serve clients as an Interim Director of Development, Fractional Fundraiser, and/or craft fundraising and communications strategies and plans.

    The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and qualities:
    ● At least 8 years of experience in development;
    ● Availability to take on deep-dive projects requiring at least 20 hours/month;
    ● Provide an accurate and detailed organizational assessment of the fundraising landscape;
    ● Experience in communications strategies, including content development and social media;
    ● Ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies that align with the client’s goals;
    ● Possess financial acumen as it relates to fundraising budgets and financial reporting to ensure transparency with donors;
    ● Donor engagement skills;
    ● Highly organized with an ability to work both independently and with a collaborative spirit;
    ● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
    ● Possess a friendly, affable demeanor in order to build rapport with clients;
    ● Dedication to racial and social justice, as well as DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), and;
    ● Ability to act as a Cause Effective ambassador.

    Cause Effective’s consulting philosophy centers around Thrivability, a nonprofit
    management practice using the principles of DEI and intersectionality to raise visibility,
    increase and improve engagement, and activate resources to fuel nonprofit missions.
    Our Affiliate Consultants must be committed to racial and social justice and demonstrate strategic thinking, diplomacy, and organizational skills.

    Submitting an Application
    Qualifying candidates must have at least 3 years of consulting experience. Affiliate consultants are paid on a per-project basis, and typical arrangements range from
