David McGoy

David McGoy, CFRE, joined Cause Effective in 2017, serving as a consultant, fundraising coach, trainer, and presenter for organizations such as Nonprofit New York, the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services, Bronx Center for Nonprofits, NY Nonprofit Press, the Dyson Foundation, and the New York Women's Foundation. He was also a contributor to Cause Effective’s groundbreaking 2018 report “Money, Power, and Race: The Lived Experiences of Fundraisers of Color.”
David is also is the Founder and President of ASSIST Development Consulting, which provides fundraising planning, strategy and capacity building for small- and mid-sized nonprofit organizations. David has presented both locally and nationally on fundraising and governance topics for the US Soccer Foundation, Laureus Foundation, Minnesota Council on Nonprofits, Partnership for After School Education, and Jr. NBA. He currently serves on the Governance Committee of the Association for Nonprofit Specialists and the Mentorship Committee of the Association for Fundraising Professionals’ NYC Chapter. He earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in 2015, studied communications at Howard University, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management and Economics at SUNY Empire State College.
