David McGoy
David McGoy, CFRE, is the Director of Strategic Growth at Cause Effective, where he is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to expand and deepen the impact of programs. With more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and governance, he has provided training, coaching, and consulting support to hundreds of nonprofit leaders to help them strengthen board governance and improve the fundraising performance of their organizations.
A member of Cause Effective’s team since 2017, David was instrumental in the development and publication of Cause Effective’s groundbreaking 2019 report, “Money, Power, and Race: The Lived Experiences of Fundraisers of Color,” which has advanced the dialogue around racial equity in nonprofit fundraising and philanthropy.
He is a committed advocate, thought leader, speaker, and writer in the effort to promote a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture in nonprofit fundraising. Beyond his work at Cause Effective, David teaches grant writing as an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University, is a trustee of the Richmond University Medical Center, and serves on the steering committees of the Racial Equity Endowment Fund and the Young Black Men’s Grassroots Initiative.
