Jonathan Meagher-Zayas
Jonathan Meagher-Zayas (He/Him) is a Queer Latinx Millennial nonprofit strategist dedicated to addressing equity issues, building capacity, engaging the community, motivating new impact leaders, and getting stuff done. Jonathan joined the Cause Effective team in 2023 and wears many professional hats, including Fundraising and Communications Strategist, Adjunct Social Work Professor, Diversity Equity & Inclusion Consultant, Leadership Development Trainer, Social Sector Career Coach, and Social Justice Champion. With over 11 years of nonprofit experience, he has been a natural problem solver, trustworthy relationship builder, and resourceful team player for several nonprofits, such as the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanity, Planned Parenthood, and Villa of Hope, as well as LGBTQ+, HIV/AIDS, and other human services agencies. He has extensive experience training, coaching, and consulting in fundraising, communications, community engagement, organizational development, leadership development, diversity equity and inclusion, and other nonprofit management areas.
Jonathan also is the Founder & Chief Strategist of Equity Warior Strategies LLC, which focuses on building change-making leaders, inclusive community engagement, and championing equity through training, coaching, and consulting. He serves as a global board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and volunteers actively in his local community. He earned his Master of Social Work degree with a human services management concentration and his Master of Public Administration degree with concentrations in nonprofit management and social welfare policy at the University at Albany, SUNY. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Religion, Linguistics, and Gender Studies from the University of Rochester. He currently holds his Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) credentials.
